Phyllis Utley is a Bail Disruptor in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Prior to joining TBP, Phyllis was a pioneer in the North Carolina Community and Work Transition Initiative for youthful justice-involved citizens. Phyllis also provided life skills services for individuals throughout North Carolina and South Carolina, including in Mecklenburg County Jail, as well as support services for the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program. Phyllis is proud of her indigeneous ancestry in North, South and Central America and is an award-winning social change activist and literary artist. Phyllis is an Alumni of the Racial Equity Institute, a graduate of Dartmouth College and a student of the University of PreTrial. She has been mentored by 2011 Liberian Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gwobee, and Phyllis has a deep love for rainbows, waterfalls, and eating garden fresh vegetables and fruits, especially blueberries, strawberries and persimmons.
