St. Louis

The Bail Project – St. Louis serves people incarcerated at the St. Louis County Jail. We serve people with cases in the St. Louis County Circuit Court.

There are 88 municipalities in St. Louis County, most with their own police departments. Municipal courthouses and police departments still rely on punitive practices to fund their budgets. In addition to providing bail assistance, we were part of an effort with ArchCity Defenders, Action St. Louis, and Mission: St. Louis to help close the brutal and deadly Workhouse jail in the city of St. Louis. While The Bail Project no longer posts bail in St. Louis City, our partner organization Freedom Community Center does.
