The Bail Project – Orlando serves people who are incarcerated in Orange County and detained at the Orange County Corrections Department.
Orange County has followed the general trend found in Florida, experiencing a steady increase in overall incarceration rates with women and black populations increasing most quickly. The Bail Project began work in Orange County in early 2022.
The total jail population in Florida has increased 513% since 1970.
From 2010 to 2015, the incarceration rate of black people increased by 20%, going from 856 to 1,025 per 100,000 black U.S. residents.
