The Bail Project – Oklahoma City serves people incarcerated at the Oklahoma County Jail in the District Court of Oklahoma County court system.
The Bail Project began posting bail for people in Oklahoma City in 2019. We’ve partnered with The Education and Employment Ministry (TEEM), the Diversion Hub, and the Public Defender’s Office to help people obtain necessary resources as they are released on bond.
The number of people incarcerated pretrial state-wide in Oklahoma more than tripled from 1978 to 2013.
The number of women incarcerated at the Oklahoma County jail was nearly 16 times greater in 2017 than it was in 1970.
There are more than twice as many Black people in Oklahoma County jail than white, even though Black people make up only 15 percent of the population.
