The Bail Project – Las Vegas serves people incarcerated in Clark County at the Clark County Detention Center, whose cases are pending in the Justice and District Courts of Clark County.
The Bail Project began posting bail in Clark County in February 2021. We’ve partnered with the Foundation for Recovery and the Foundation for An Independent Tomorrow to help people obtain resources and care after they’re released from the county jail.
In 2019, more than 74,000 people were booked at the Clark County Detention Center — a 10% increase from 2018.
Despite making up only 11% of Clark County’s population, Black people comprise 40% of the Clark County Detention Center’s pretrial population.
The number of women held in jail in Clark County has quadrupled since 1970.
In 2019, nearly 600 incarcerated people were detained for more than seven days because they could not afford bail that was less than $2,500.
