Joe Fonseca III (he/him) is a Bail Disruptor in San Marcos, Texas.
A native to South Central Texas, Joe comes from a low-income and justice-impacted environment and has seen firsthand how the wealth-based detention system can wreak havoc on families like his own. Prior to working with The Bail Project, Joe worked as a bail fund operator for Mano Amiga, a nonprofit that seeks to create a corridor of resistance to racist, anti-immigrant policies deep in the heart of Central Texas. Joe worked with and for detained persons by posting bail, helping them outline their web of support, providing social resource guidance, and giving court date reminders. Joe looks forward to continuing the fight against wealth-based detention by serving low-income communities in this capacity through the leadership and support of The Bail Project.
