Donna Byrd is the founder of BlueButterfly, a digital startup that assists families with the funeral planning process. She was the founding publisher of The Root, a leading online Black news source, and helped launch five companies including ezgov.com, BlackAmericaWeb.com and Kickoff Marketing.
She is a Henry Crown Fellow at The Aspen Institute and serves on the boards of Black Girls Rock, an empowerment organization for young women of color, and Village Capital, an organization which recruits and trains business owners focused on social entrepreneurship. Donna holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and received her B.A. from The University of Virginia.
