New Orleans

In New Orleans, The Bail Project has partnered with The Safety and Freedom Fund at Operation Restoration. Our partnership site serves people incarcerated at the Orleans Parish Prison in the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court system.

Operation Restoration is a community organization which runs 15 programs for women and girls impacted by incarceration. We are collaborating with The Safety and Freedom Fund at Operation Restoration to amplify their capacity to bail people out and support those individuals throughout the duration of their cases.

The number of women incarcerated in Orleans Parish tripled between 1970 and 2017.

There are over three times as many Black people as whites in jail in Orleans Parish, a disproportionate amount in comparison to the overall county population.
